Walis Labai (Diing-Wuu Wu)瓦歷斯 拉拜

I am a member of the Sediq tribe in Taiwan.

 

My Chinese name is Diing-Wuu Wu. My mother is from the Sediq tribe, and my father is from Jiangsu Province in China. I graduated from Physics Department of Chinese Culture University in 1984, and received my MFA degree in Computer Graphics Design from the School of Design, Rochester Institute of Technology in 1991. My physics background from university has provided the technological support for my artistic undertakings. I am currently associate professorin the department of Commercial Design in Chung Yuan Christian University, Taoyuan, Taiwan.

 

I received an education heavy in science and technology within mainstream Chinese Culture, and I did not interested in my mother's Sediq culture until my went overseas to study and changed to the humanities. So, my works show retrace of my own personal experiences.
